It’s funny how when you sit down to choose a word for the coming year, it often ends up that another word chooses you instead. That’s exactly what happened to me this year.
I was sitting here ready to write my post, telling you my word when my little voice popped up and said, “I don’t want that word… I want to play!”
And since I’ve learned that it’s usually not a good idea to ignore that little voice, my word for 2015 is indeed… PLAY.
Now, lest you think that means I’m going to slack off and not work on building my business this year, let me reassure you that is definitely not the case. What play means in the context of my business is that I’m going to be focusing on putting the fun back into my work.
It’s no secret that last year I made some decisions early in the year that pretty much sucked the life right out of my business. One decision made for the wrong reasons resulted in a year of trying to make everything fit into a model that really just wasn’t for me.
This year with the re-opening of The Acorn Stash, I get to play where I like playing best… in publishing and creating, and in helping my friends and clients grow their businesses and share their stories.
Playing in my Facebook groups will be a huge part of that… both my own groups and the other groups I am a member of.
Play also works in the other areas of my life:
To play my piano every day gives me another outlet for creativity and gives me back a piece of myself that I’ve ignored for far too long.
To play with my camera gets me outside and spending more time in nature, which is better for my health than spending hours every day on the computer.
I also want to spend time playing in the kitchen, learning more healthy ways to cook.
But really, the most important part is wanting to put a sense of play back into my business. To be able to wake up every morning with that sense of excitement… of thinking “What, and who, will I play with today?”
Do you wanna play with me? Leave a comment and share your word for 2015.
